Studies and Research Center (SRC) is the foremost organ of the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences. It provides, in fact, a tangible realization of the ideal cherished by the Council of Arab Interior Ministers (CAMI). The latter, in its second meeting held at Baghdad during 1987, had suggested the establishment of a highly specialized security research center. With the lapse of time, this suggested center reflected its reality. It emerged and assumed the current status _____ Studies and Research Center (SRC). It was founded in the year 1416 A.H. _____ 1996 A.D. Among the manifold factors contributing to its establishment, the most decisive are the socio-economic transformation that the Arab World has witnessed in the recent years. In the wake of such transformation, new styles of crimes _____ violence, terrorism, computer-related, environmental and organized _____ have made conspicuous appearance. Modern criminals have also embarked on manipulating sophisticated means and feasibilities _____ scientific, technical and advanced. The menace is too grave to express in few words. In essence, it necessitates a serious response. This response must be reinforced with the use of scientific – oriented research. This kind of research will, in turn, assist in the articulation of future Arab security strategies and plans. The latter will receive momentum by exploiting other resources _____ channels of cooperation and exchange of experience at Arab and global levels.
Within such background settings, Studies and Research was established. In pattern, it is identical to the most modern research centers. It is showing steady progress. Its standard is rising. It is commensurate to the needs articulated in Arab security strategies. In operational terms, it is committed to translate into decisive terms the academic mission assumed by the Naif Arab university for Security Science (NAUSS). It undertakes research activities that concern multifarious areas of security in the Arab world. In fact, it is given wider scope. Included in the spectrum are new security developments _____ regional and international.
Among the multiple tasks carried by Studies and Research Center (SRC), the most important are its constant contributions in the realms of research and translation. Last but certainly not the least are its ongoing meritorious endeavours on organizing periodic conferences, symposia, conventions and lectures.
