UN agencies that cooperate with NAUSS

 

    Cooperation between NAUSS and the UN is a central part of the activities of the university. Such cooperation is essential in the exchange of knowledge and experience and helps to develop and strengthen academic and training programs.

    NAUSS has effective relations with the following UN bodies:

United Nations Cultural, Scientific and Educational Organization (UNESCO)

    UNESCO works towards effective dialogue among civilizations, cultures and peoples through respect for commonly shared values. The aim of this dialogue is to achieve global visions of sustainable development encompassing observance of human rights, mutual respect and the alleviation of poverty.

 

United Nations Development Program (UNDP)

    The UNDP is the UN's global development network. It is an organization calling for change - connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. The UNDP works in 166 countries helping them to formulate effective solutions to global and national development challenges.

 

United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)

    UNICEF works with others to overcome issues facing children all over the world such as poverty, violence, disease and discrimination.

 

United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Program (UNCPCJP)

    This program aims to provide member countries with all of the necessary information and experience to prevent crime and improve and develop criminal justice work.

 

United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)

    The UNODC assists Member States in combating illicit drugs, crime and terrorism through education and training. The UNODC produces an annual report on illegal drugs around the world and develops strategies to stem the use and sale of them.

 

Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)

    ECOSOC is the principal UN organ responsible for promoting higher standards of living, full employment, and economic and social progress; identifying solutions to international economic, social and health problems; facilitating international cultural and educational cooperation; and encouraging universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.

 

The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR)

    This agency leads and co-ordinates international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee related problems. It works to safeguard the rights of refugees and to protect and help asylum seekers.

 

United Nations Office of Legal Affairs

    This office is specialized in legal affairs related to combating drug crime. NAUSS has held a number of training programs in cooperation with this organization.
