In collaboration with the Qatari ministry of interior, NAUSS organized a seminar in Doha on January 30, 2012. The seminar is devoted to the question of designing and building roads and highways according to international standards of safety. Besides the familiar issues of speed limits ,red light cameras ,traffic calming and cell phone use while driving, the seminar will focus on the outcomes of Saudi Arabia's Sahir program, GPS systems and highway safety, traffic accident statistics in the Arab world, modern highway safety techniques and protective and preventive road accident measures..
On the occasion of hosting the event, HH Shiekh Abdulla ben Nasir ben Khalifa Al-Thani, the Qatari state minister for internal affairs praised the role of NAUSS in promoting Arab security awareness and knowledge and stressed the need for more inter- Arab cooperation in ensuring the safety and security of roads and highways.
The three day event will be attended by representatives of traffic and engineering departments in the Arab countries and some Arab universities and research centers. The recommendations of the attendees will be drawn up during the closing session on Feburay1, 2012.
