Academic Forum: Student Counseling and its Role in Preventing Drugs

This important event is being attended by 414 experts from 18 Arab countries and has been organized by the Center for Studies and Research at the University. 


The event is running from the 7-8 March. Attendees have come from ministries of interior, education, and higher education; Arab universities, specialist research centers, and other related sectors. 

The forum has a number of important aims:

- To activate the role of student counseling in preventing drug abuse

- To look at the most important programs and methods of student counseling in the field of drug prevention

- To reveal ways of improving student counseling in drug prevention

- To benefit from Arab and international experience in this field

A number of important subjects are being discussed and presented, including the following:

- New programs and methods of student counseling in drug prevention

- Obstacles and challenges facing student counseling in the field of drug prevention

Some of the papers being presented are as follows:

- Designing and formulating counseling programs to prevent students from drugs and psychotropic substances

- The present state of preventative counseling in universities

- The integrative relationship between student counseling and security establishments

- Leading Arab and international examples in the field of student counseling in drug prevention

At the opening ceremony, the President of the University Dr. Jamaan ben Ragosh welcomed the attendees and highlighted the importance of this event. He also stressed the dangers of drugs in society and the important role played by student counseling in preventing drugs.


He stressed that the University has made the greatest efforts in the area of drug prevention under the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, Head of the Council of Political and Security Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Supreme Council of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences.
